Aston Priority Simatupangs Unique Halloween: A 'Coco' Themed Buffet Embracing Joy, Not Jumpscares

The core of this innovative approach is the inspiration drawn from Disney-Pixar's film, Coco, which itself is rooted in the Mexican tradition of Da de los Muertos

BISNISTIME.COM, JAKARTA – Wednesday November 5,2025 In a refreshing departure from the usual spooky celebrations, Aston Priority Simatupang Hotel in South Jakarta is introducing a truly unique concept for its 2025 Halloween event. The hotel is hosting a family-friendly, vibrant, and fun Halloween-themed buffet, running from October 31st to November 2nd, 2025, at the Canary Restaurant.

The core of this innovative approach is the inspiration drawn from Disney-Pixar's film, Coco, which itself is rooted in the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Unlike the often-frightening imagery of Western Halloween, Día de los Muertos is a joyful celebration of life, remembrance, and enduring love for departed family members. This positive and colorful cultural tradition is the centerpiece of the hotel's theme, reflected in both the decorations and the culinary offerings.

Pastry Creations and Authentic Mexican Cuisine Take Center Stage

The highlight of the event is the exceptional creativity of the hotel’s pastry team. They have meticulously crafted a variety of cakes and desserts shaped as the charming animated characters from the Coco movie. These delightful confections and the restaurant’s décor are vibrant and cheerful, embodying the spirit of the Mexican holiday. This approach, as stated by Febrian Sjarif, Executive Chef of Aston Priority Simatupang, aims to transform the typical scary Halloween atmosphere into one of family meaning and cheerfulness.

"This year's Halloween concept is intentionally different from the norm. We want to bring a fun, not frightening, Halloween atmosphere. Through the characters from the film Coco, we want to show that this celebration can also be about family and cheerfulness," Sjarif commented.

Furthermore, to fully honor the cultural origin of the film's inspiration, the four-star hotel’s buffet menu features a special selection of authentic Mexican dishes. Guests can savor beloved items such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and churros, enriching the dining experience with a genuine taste of Mexico alongside a full spread of Indonesian and international cuisine.

Engaging and Educational Activities for the Youngsters

Adding to the family appeal, the hotel has planned a hands-on creative activity. On Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, from 09:00 to 10:00 AM, children and families are invited to participate in a "Little Monster Clay Activity." This session is specifically designed for children to create their own cute, imaginative Halloween monsters from clay, providing an educational and bonding experience for the whole family.

This unique blend of culinary excellence, artistic detail, and positive cultural education makes the event at Canary Restaurant an attractive option for families looking for a different, more positive way to celebrate Halloween. The event is open to the public for lunch and dinner on October 31st, 2025, and breakfast on November 1st and 2nd, 2025.
