Exploring New Public-Private Partnership Models for Transmigrasi Industrialization

BISNISTIME.COM, JAKARTA -- Monday January 13, 2025 – The Indonesian Ministry of Finance is committed to developing innovative partnership schemes to support the Ministry of Transmigration's efforts to industrialize transmigration areas. This commitment comes after a comprehensive discussion between the two ministries on January 9th, highlighting the limitations of existing models such as the Public Service Agency (BLU) and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

The Ministry of Transmigration is seeking to transform transmigration programs into large-scale industrial developments. To achieve this, the ministry is exploring various public-private partnership models that can benefit both the government and private investors while ensuring the well-being of transmigrants.

"Our goal is to empower cooperatives and corporations in transmigration areas by providing them with the necessary training and resources to create new economic opportunities," said Transmigration Minister Iftitah. "With their existing land and human resources, transmigrants have the potential to become key players in the development of these areas."

The new partnership schemes are expected to attract significant investments, improve the scale of production, and enhance the competitiveness of transmigration areas. Potential areas of focus include agroindustry, agrotourism, and infrastructure development. Moreover, these partnerships are anticipated to generate revenue that can be used to fund the ministry's programs, reducing its reliance on the state budget.

To ensure accountability and transparency, the ministries will work together to develop robust regulations and oversight mechanisms. As a result of this initial discussion, both ministries have agreed to meet again to finalize the details of these alternative partnership models and their corresponding regulations.
