BISNISTIME.COM, YOGYAKARTA – PHM HOTELS proudly announces the return of its annual Art & Music Festival, this year themed Harmony of the Seas. The festival runs from October 30 to November 30, 2024, at all PHM HOTELS properties throughout Indonesia. This celebration highlights Indonesia’s rich art and music heritage while offering guests a profound cultural experience, as stated on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Held across 16 PHM HOTELS properties—including THE HAVEN, THE 1O1, 1O1 STYLE, 1O1 URBAN, and FRii—the festival provides a platform for diverse artistic expressions such as painting exhibitions, acoustic music performances, and interactive workshops. The creative and inclusive concept not only supports local artists but also enriches the guests’ stay by blending art, cuisine, and accommodations in a vibrant hotel environment.
The Harmony of the Seas theme was chosen to emphasize the importance of the Indonesian seas, part of one of the world’s largest maritime regions, covering over 70% of the nation’s territory. With more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia hosts one of the richest marine ecosystems globally, home to thousands of marine species, including coral reefs, fish, and unique sea plants rarely found elsewhere. This festival allows PHM HOTELS to contribute to marine conservation efforts through artistic collaborations and conservation initiatives.
“As part of our commitment to marine preservation, THE 1O1 Hotels & Resorts, a renowned PHM HOTELS brand, incorporates water as a core element of its identity. This reflects its deep connection with the sea and its commitment to environmental sustainability. THE 1O1’s iconic mascot, Tosca the Turtle, represents eternity and living in harmony with nature. The turtle symbolizes longevity and resilience, sharing a life cycle similar to humans, especially children, making it an ideal representation of THE 1O1 Hotels & Resorts’ philosophy,” said Marcia Amandary, VP of Brand & Development at PHM HOTELS.
For this festival, PHM HOTELS collaborates with Artopologi and the Terumbu Rupa Foundation to support marine conservation through the adoption of the artwork Kurma Amerta. This sculpture, a turtle made from recycled metal waste, is created by artist Teguh Ostenrik. The use of Kurma Amerta as a medium for coral reef growth aligns with the icon Tosca the Turtle, reflecting THE 1O1 Hotels & Resorts’ deep care for turtle habitats and coral reef ecosystems in Indonesian waters.
The festival’s launch was celebrated with an afternoon tea event titled The Suite Tooth during the Jakarta Dessert Week at THE 1O1 Jakarta Sedayu Darmawangsa on October 11, 2024. Guests were treated to ocean-themed delicacies crafted by Pastry Chef Farah, paired with artisan teas from Harumoni Tea.
“Indonesia, as the heart of the Coral Triangle, is home to approximately 76% of the world’s coral reef species. This diversity is crucial for global ecosystem balance and supports millions of coastal communities relying on marine resources for livelihoods, tourism, and food security. However, this marine ecosystem faces serious threats, including plastic pollution, climate change, and overfishing,” explained Greta Indri, Corporate Marketing Communications Manager at PHM HOTELS.
“Through Harmony of the Seas, PHM HOTELS aims to invite guests and the broader community to jointly preserve the beauty of Indonesia’s seas. Harmony between humanity and the ocean is essential to ensuring this natural wealth is passed on to future generations,” she concluded.
