BISNISTIME.COM, JAKARTA – Saturday (October 5, 2024), in celebration of National Batik Day, Mercure Jakarta Batavia proudly hosted its annual event, Batik KarnavALL 2024, with the theme “Batik Story: Heritage In Your Own Style.” Held on October 3, 2024, the event invited batik enthusiasts from the Komunitas Ibu Berwisata to explore Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through interactive and educational activities. As a hotel committed to promoting the preservation of Indonesian culture, Mercure Jakarta Batavia uniquely blended education with entertainment for hotel guests and batik lovers alike.

“Batik Story: Heritage In Your Own Style” is not just an ordinary celebration; it’s a call for younger generations to appreciate and embrace batik as part of their national identity. The event opened with a talk show featuring West Jakarta’s Abang None 2023 winners, Syaiful Islam Nabawi & Dinda Dogoboyou, alongside Dewi Astuti, owner of Ghawaean Dhewe. The speakers shared insights into the significance of batik as a symbol of Indonesia’s cultural richness on the global stage, and how it has become part of modern lifestyles. Participants gained valuable knowledge on batik trends that preserve traditional values in today’s fashion era.

Following the talk show, a fashion show showcased various modern batik outfits, demonstrating how batik can be integrated into everyday attire, whether for formal or casual settings. The clothing featured vibrant colors and unique motifs, highlighting the endless creative possibilities of batik design.

One of the event’s main highlights was the Batik Workshop, where participants were able to create their own batik designs by coloring batik patterns, making hair accessories from batik fabric, and even trying out temporary batik henna. This hands-on experience allowed participants to appreciate the beauty of batik and the artistic value behind each motif while expressing their own creativity.

The event concluded with a delightful Batik Afternoon Tea, where participants enjoyed refreshments and had the chance to win exclusive batik wallet souvenirs. A quiz giveaway awarded lucky participants with prizes, including a one-night stay at Mercure Jakarta Batavia and a dining voucher worth IDR 250,000 for Restaurant Malaka.

Paulus D. Karim, General Manager of Mercure Jakarta Batavia, expressed, “Batik KarnavALL is more than just an event; it’s our commitment to preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage. We want to invite everyone to engage with batik, recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage, and make it part of their lifestyle.
