BISNISTIME.COM, DEPOK – Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Enhancing Students’ Dance Creativity through Digital Technology. Human behavior encompasses actions taken individually, collectively, or organizationally, impacting both the individual and their surrounding environment. When it comes to students, behavior refers to conscious and unconscious actions they exhibit during the learning process.
Trisia Loli Maulina, an Extracurricular Dance Instructor and Cultural Arts Observer, explains that today’s digital technology evolution urges teachers and students alike to adopt it in both face-to-face (offline) and online learning activities. In the context of dance education, teachers can inspire students to develop creativity, innovation, and appreciation by integrating platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as key learning resources for inspiration and artistic creation.
Trisia shared six specific student behaviors that enhance creativity in dance through digital technology. These behaviors include:
- Expressing themselves through choreographed movements,
- Exploring new dance styles using social media platforms like TikTok,
- Learning traditional dances from various regions via YouTube and connecting with Indonesian artists,
- Expanding social circles and deepening motivation to learn,
- Respecting and preserving ancestral traditions while adapting them to the present,
- Utilizing digital media wisely to access positive, enriching information in dance.
In creating their own dance works with digital tools, students can further:
- Explore and express creativity,
- Develop ideas from personal and others’ emotional experiences,
- Find inspiration through platforms like YouTube or TikTok to choreograph unique dance moves,
- Merge traditional and modern music with computer-based systems,
- Integrate audiovisual elements using projectors for stage backdrops and decor.
. This digital approach not only encourages students to engage more in dance, both in and outside school, but it also fosters discipline, a sense of cultural pride, and respect for the arts, benefiting both themselves and their communities.
