BISNISTIME.COM, YOGYAKARTA— In celebration of National Batik Day on October 2, 2024, 1O1 Style Yogyakarta Malioboro hosted a special workshop and breakfast talk at AMERTA Restaurant on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The event featured renowned batik expert, Ir. RA Yudi Aningtyas, a member of the Indonesian Batik Association (PPBI) Sekarjagad, who shared her extensive knowledge of batik patterns and their deep-rooted symbolism in human life.

The workshop focused on the philosophical significance of batik motifs, tracing their connection to different stages of life—from birth to death. Participants also learned about the proper ways to wear batik for various occasions, with a special emphasis on avoiding common cultural missteps, such as wearing funeral-themed batik at celebrations or donning forbidden patterns in royal settings. “I’m thrilled to share this knowledge, especially about batik motifs that many people might not be familiar with. There are designs meant for sacred ceremonies that shouldn’t be worn casually, and patterns with cultural restrictions that are important to respect. I hope this knowledge helps preserve batik in an enjoyable way,” Ir. RA Yudi Aningtyas remarked.
