BISNISTIME.COM, GARUT, Indonesia – On Sunday, February 23, 2025, the streets of Garut, West Java, will come alive with the vibrant colors and sounds of the Cap Go Meh parade. Over 1,300 participants, including local residents and performers from across the region, will take part in this spectacular cultural event, organized by the Fu Long Miau Temple (Vihara Dharma Loka).

The parade will feature a variety of traditional Chinese and Indonesian cultural performances, including lion and dragon dances, martial arts displays, and traditional music. Participants will also wear traditional costumes from various ethnic groups in Indonesia, showcasing the country’s rich cultural diversity.

“This event is a celebration of Cap Go Meh as part of Chinese culture, a heritage from our ancestors, and also to introduce Chinese culture to the wider community in Garut,” said Joanna from Zocha Graha Kriya, the event’s initiator to interview bisnistime.com on Saturday (22/02) night.

The parade will begin at the Fu Long Miau Temple and wind its way through the streets of Garut, covering a distance of 2.5 kilometers. The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators, both local residents and tourists.

In addition to the parade, the Cap Go Meh celebration in Garut will also feature a lion and dragon dance performance and a culinary festival featuring Chinese cuisine at Plaza Garut in the evening.

The 2025 Cap Go Meh parade in Garut is expected to be the biggest and most spectacular celebration of the event in the city’s history. The event is a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage and its commitment to preserving and promoting its traditions.

“This year’s participants have tripled from previous years,” said Joanna. “We are very excited to welcome participants from outside Garut, including Bandung, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bogor, Purwakarta, Karawang, Jepara, and Jakarta.”

The Cap Go Meh parade is not only a celebration of Chinese culture but also a symbol of unity and harmony among the diverse communities in Garut. The event is a reminder that despite their differences, people from different backgrounds can come together to celebrate their shared humanity.
