GAIKINDO Chairman Yohannes Nangoi expressed that this year’s GIIAS Semarang successfully drew the interest of Central Java’s community, eager to experience the advancements in Indonesia’s automotive industry firsthand. “With the move to a new venue, GIIAS Semarang expanded both in size and offerings, attracting the enthusiasm of the Central Java public to witness the latest vehicle models and technologies from the Indonesian automotive sector.
The event provided visitors with direct learning experiences through major brand representatives,” Yohannes shared. He noted that the enthusiastic visitor turnout reflected the event’s success, contributing directly to the automotive industry’s accomplishments in 2024. “This GIIAS series across different regions aims to support the achievements of the motor vehicle industry, and it’s part of GAIKINDO’s efforts to meet the revised 2024 sales target of 850,000 units by year-end,” he told Bisnistime.com today.
New Venue and Expansive Brand Lineup Attract Record-Breaking Attendance
Hosted at the Muladi Dome at UNDIP, GIIAS Semarang 2024 showcased cutting-edge automotive innovations from 19 renowned vehicle brands. The lineup included 14 passenger vehicle brands, such as BAIC, BYD, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, GAC Aion, Honda, KIA, Mazda, MG, Mitsubishi Motors, Suzuki, Toyota, and Wuling, along with Toyota Commercial in the commercial vehicle category. For two-wheelers, Alva, Exotic, Pacific, and Polytron joined as key exhibitors. Over 25 automotive support brands, ranging from automotive components to advanced technology, further enriched the event, broadening the selection for attendees. Shell Helix, the main sponsor, also presented exciting programs for visitors, adding to the excitement of this final GIIAS Series event of the year.
Rizwan Alamsjah, GAIKINDO’s Head of Exhibition Organization and Vice Chairman III, remarked on the vibrant atmosphere of GIIAS Semarang as a main attraction for visitors. “The grand and lively setting of this year’s GIIAS Semarang fueled visitor enthusiasm from day one, achieving a record attendance of 30,070 visitors,” Rizwan revealed.
Rizwan added that these positive changes were felt not only by the organizers but also by the exhibitors. The new location at Muladi Dome UNDIP offered a fresh environment for participants, with expanded exhibition space allowing exhibitors to showcase their premium products more effectively, providing visitors with a wider selection of vehicles to explore.
The conclusion of GIIAS Semarang marks the end of the 2024 GIIAS Series. The entire 2024 GIIAS series attracted over half a million visitors, with the 31st GIIAS in BSD-City, Tangerang, recording 475,084 attendees, GIIAS Surabaya attracting 35,385, GIIAS Bandung drawing 24,847, and GIIAS Semarang closing with a total of 30,070 visitors. The series also achieved impressive transaction results, with over 40,000 motor vehicles sold, totaling more than 20 trillion rupiahs in sales. “We are incredibly grateful, as all GIIAS series events successfully navigated the challenges faced by the automotive industry this year, achieving strong results and contributing to the domestic industry’s achievements,” Rizwan expressed. He promised that the GIIAS exhibition series will return even more vibrant, reaching audiences in key cities across Indonesia in 2025.
